LEFT BENCH: ORIGINS

(The Homies. colorized. circa 2011)
Created from the sidelines of a high school football game, the seed of the idea which eventually became LeftBenchProductions, was brought to life in 2011. From there, the production company started off as kids with a camera filming themselves in their backyard. The production was basic, the acting was abysmal, and the equipment was sub par. However, the vision and the means to create were all there.
As the years progressed, the creators matured, as did the content. The storytelling began to take a new shape, the equipment advanced, and the crew was growing. What started off as two kids in their backyard filming with their camera turned into a crew of film students on location for their new production. LeftBenchProductions was taking on a face of legitimacy and only for the better.
DANIEL DE LA CRUZ
Creator

Director, Writer, Actor
Codename: DLC
A countless number of projects now under his belt since the start of this company, Daniel’s passion, at first, was acting. After starring in most of the earlier projects, writing the first ever LBP film, he began to write more and more scripts and screenplays, eventually sparking a transition into writing and directing. Ditching the lead roles for more behind the camera work, Daniel’s projects advanced from an extreme guerrilla style of film making to writing and directing legitimate short films. These new projects garnering awards and acclaim with more sure to come.
THEODORE KIRKBRIDE
Creator

Writer
Codename: Ted the New Guy
It could be said that with no Ted the New Guy, there would be no DLC, and really no LBP, in general. As Theodore was the first to introduce the technical side of filming to what would eventually become LeftBenchProductions. While Daniel wrote the first screenplay for the first film, Theodore brought the first camera, directed the first shot, and made the first edit. Although, he remained behind the camera for the majority of the films, his impact to the company still remains to this day. Having more recently, stepped back from the company, Theodore continues to provide essential consulting on screenplays and projects, remaining one of LeftBenchProductions’ most valuable assets since its creation.
